Connecting Claude to a LIMS through an MCP server

Context
The LIMS holds each institution’s laboratory data. The goal was to connect Claude AI to it.
Problem
An assistant connected to lab records has to go through the same authorization as every other client of a multi-tenant platform.
What I did
- Built an MCP server with FastMCP that connects Claude to the LIMS.
- Reused the platform’s own OAuth 2.1 + PKCE flow rather than inventing a separate credential, so access control stays in one place.
- Built per-tenant context resolution into the server.
